Procedures After Losing Weight

With the growing popularity of bariatric surgery as a treatment for obesity, body contouring after major weight loss has become a focus of Dr. Arbabzadeh’s practice.

Following major weight loss, patients often need some sort of body contouring to improve their shape and definition. This highly specialized area of plastic surgery is complex, challenging, and extremely rewarding. It’s important that you choose a surgeon that has experience in working with bariatric patients. Dr. Arbabzadeh can help you find your new shape that is hidden beneath the excess skin.

If you have lost 100 pounds or more, then you may need toning of your underlying tissue that supports fat and skin. You probably need excess fat and skin removed in some or all of the following areas:

Abdomen & Waist

It’s not uncommon for bariatric patients to have 10 to 20 pounds of excess skin after they have lost a significant amount of weight. This can cause problems with personal hygiene and make fitting into your clothes next to impossible. A tummy tuck and liposuction is a common combination for bariatric patients.

Arms

Hanging skin under the arms is a problem if you’ve lost over 100 pounds of weight. Many patients choose an arm lift to lift and tighten the skin under the arms.

Breast

Often, major weight loss will leave breasts droopy. For more information on breast procedures and how it can benefit you, check out our breast procedure page.

Neck & Face

Sagging skin is common after significant weight loss and makes you look older even after you have lost a lot of weight. This can be improved with face lift surgery and eye lift surgery.

There are many possible procedures to help improve your appearance after you’ve lost the weight. Take a look at the before and after pictures of patients just like you and imagine the possibilities.
