botox-restylane-perlane-fillersRestylane® is one of the most commonly requested and administered injectable fillers on the market today with more than a decade of use. Restylane® has been used in over 1.4 million treatments in the U.S. and is available in more than 70 countries, with dozens of studies published in medical literature.

Restylane®, and the newer addition, Perlane®, are gels of hyaluronic acid, (HA), generated by a particular species of bacteria chemically cross-linked, (the long chemical strands are tied together) and stabilized. HA, is a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and binds water molecules to provide fullness and elasticity to the skin. Allergy testing is not required because Restylane® and Perlane® contain no animal proteins.

Perlane® is essentially the same product as Restylane® but has a larger concentration of HA. and is intended to be injected deeper within the skin so it is usually used for larger folds and deeper wrinkle correction. Restylane® is better suited for smaller wrinkles or to maintain the results of a previous Perlane® injection.
