Prevelle® Silk, a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler manufactured by Genzyme Biosurgery and distributed by Mentor Corporation. Prevelle® Silk is unique because it is the first in a line of HA dermal filler products to contain a local anesthetic called lidocaine. Lidocaine is the anesthetic most commonly used for dental procedures to numb the teeth before treatment. Treatment with Prevelle® Silk is more comfortably tolerated than other injections because the tissue is anesthetized as the treatment proceeds.

Hyaluronic acid (HA)-based fillers have become one of the most popular materials of choice for use in soft tissue and dermal correction. HA fillers have different properties that are a result of the way they are manufactured. Important performance factors to consider are:

Procedure

• This is a true “lunch hour” procedure. Treatment with Prevelle® Silk takes only about 30 minutes.
